About SCDTC
Santa Clara Dog Training Club, Inc. (SCDTC) is an American Kennel Club (AKC) member obedience club that was founded in 1954. Our members participate in a variety of activities with their dogs, including obedience, conformation, agility, tracking, search and rescue, and therapy dog work. The Club hosts an annual obedience trial, an annual agility trial, and holds weekly obedience and conformation training classes. We also support canines in our communities by periodically holding AKC Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog International tests and purchasing bulletproof vests for police dogs.

The SCDTC:

Club History & Community
The Santa Clara Dog Training Club was established in 1954 and has been training handlers and dogs in the South Bay for over 50 years. The Club incorporated formally as a 501(c)(3) California corporation in 1985 so donations are tax deductible.
Over the years, the Santa Clara Dog Training Club has helped create more peaceful homes with well behaved pet dogs. We have administered countless Canine Good Citizen tests to those dogs and owners. We've also administered nearly as many Therapy Dog International tests, enabling new certified therapy dog teams to go out in the community and provide comfort to so many who need it. Our training classes have also been used by some of our community's Search & Rescue dogs to learn basic obedience skills. We applaud these often unsung heroes.
The Club also makes donations each year to worthy canine causes. Marko, the police dog pictured at the right is owned and handled by Officer Johnny Ceballos. Marko is the second recipient of a protection vest donated by the Santa Clara Dog Training Club to the K-9 Unit of the San Jose Police Department.
You can get a sense of the Club's rich history through our History Photo Gallery. The collection of pictures was curated by the Club's historian to celebrate the 2011 ACK 75th Annivery of the Sport of Obedience. Members will see many familiar faces and be amused at past training locations.
Would You Like To Help?
If you like what our Club is doing, perhaps you'd like to help us.
You might consider becoming a member. To join, first take a class or two to get to know us better. Then, ask two current members to sponsor you. That's all there is to it! We love to get new members!
You might consider volunteering. We've always got lots of things that need to get done. Sometimes the tasks aren't glamorous - like sweeping up after class. Other tasks offer great opportunities to learn about dogs and dog sports - such as laying a track for a tracking trial. If you are interested, email info@santaclaradog.org.
You might consider donating. Perhaps you have dog related equipment you no longer use or office equipment. If you have something you think we may be able to use, email info@santaclaradog.org.
